«PREVIOUS
LITERARY COMPETITION – Chintana

GENERAL QUIZ

  • Each college can send one Team consisting of only 3 participants.
  • There will be a written preliminary round and teams will be selected for the Finals.
  • The finals will be oral, and audio Visual aids will be used for questioning.
  • The specific rules regarding the evaluation procedure, time to reply to a particular answer and the type of round will be announced before the start of the competition.
DEBATE
  • Each college will be represented by two debators. One will speak for, while the other will speak against the topic.
  • Medium of expression will be in English only.
  • Topic of debate will be announced 24 hrs In advance.
  • Each debater will be allowed to speak for a maximum of 5 minutes.
ELOCUTION
  • Each college will be represented by one speaker.
  • Medium of expression will be Englishi or Kannada. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for 5 minutes.
  • Topic of elocution will be announced 24 hrs in advance.
  • Participant can recite in English or Kannada on any of the 3 given topics announced half an hour prior to the event.
  • Only one participant from each college.
  • Maximum time allowed for recitation is not more than 5 minutes.

THEATRE COMPETITION – Anka

ONE ACT PLAY

  • Only one entry shall be accepted from each college.
  • The duration of the play should not exceed 30 minutes. Time will start from the moment signal is given by the teams or introduction of the play by the team member has been started, whichever is earlier. Empty stage to empty stage to be followed strictly. For stage setting and removal of set and properties, up to 10 minutes Will be given, after taking charge of the stage.
  • Number of participants should not exceed nine.
  • The participating teams shall bring their own set/stage property, Make up material etc.., Light and general property such as ordinary furniture maybe provided upon prior information.
  • The play may be in English or Kannada. In case the language is a regional one the synopsis of the play with translation in English must be submitted to the person in charge of the competition on the day of the registration.
  • The participating team must report to the person in charge at least two hours before the presentation of the play.
  • Judgment will most likely be based on the quality of the play like theme, work on acting, stage craft, design and general impression etc..
  • Decision of the panel of the judges will be final and binding upon all.
SKIT
  • Only one team per college is allowed.
  • Maximum number of participants allowed is 6.
  • Maximum time allotted for each team is 15 minutes.
  • Use of Make up and background music is allowed.
  • Participating team should give three copies of the synopsis of the team along with the language of presentation and its translation on the day of registration.
  • Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities of the play like theme, work on acting, stage craft, design and general impression etc...
  • The skit maybe in English or Kannada.
MIME
  • Only one team per college is allowed.
  • Maximum number of participants allowed is 6.
  • Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities of the play like theme, work on acting, stage craft, design and general impression etc...
  • Maximum time is 10 minutes.
MIMICRY
  • Each college can send in only one participant.
  • Each participant will be allowed to perform for a maximum of 10 minutes.
  • Person can perform either sounds or mimic personalities.
  • The language of expression if any should be either English or Kannada.

FINE ARTS COMPETITION – Chittara

PAINTING

  • Only one participant per college is allowed.
  • Event will be conducted on the spot and the participants will be requested to do the painting on the subject given by the person in charge of the competitions.
  • Duration shall not exceed 2 hrs.
  • Size of the painting will be half imperial size drawing paper i.e.22 inches by 15 inches.
  • Painting can be done in oil, water, poster or pastel colors. Candidates will bring their own material like brushes, paints etc... Only the paper/sheet will be provided.
COLLAGE
  • Each college will be represented by one participant only.
  • Topic will be given on the spot.
  • Duration will not exceed 60 minutes.
  • Participants are requested to bring their own scissors and pasting material.
POSTER MAKING
  • Each college will be represented by one participant only.
  • Topic will be given on the spot.
  • Duration will not exceed 2 hours.
  • Participants are requested to bring their own material. Only the paper/sheet will be provided. (half imperial size).
CLAY MODELLING
  • Each college will be represented by one participant only.
  • Duration will not exceed 2 hours.
  • clay will be provided.
  • Topic will be given on the spot.
CARTOONING
  • Each college will be represented by one participant only.
  • Duration will not exceed 60 minutes.
  • Drawing sheet will be provided.
  • Topic will be given on the spot.
RANGOLI
  • Each college will be represented by one participant only.
  • Duration will not exceed 2 hours.
  • Participants will bring their own material.
  • The medium and form of expression can be free hand/pectoral.
POTTERY PAINTING
  • Each college will be represented by one participant only.
  • Duration will not exceed 60 minutes.
  • Participants will bring their own material. (Pots will be provided).
  • The medium and form of expression can be free hand/pectoral.

In connection with the RGUHS Intercollegiate Cultural and Literary meet Kala Shrunga 2007 CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION has been organised by the RGUHS, in Kannada or English.

You are here by requested to inform this to your students and motivate them to participate in the above mentioned competition in good numbers. Neatly typed or computer printed material (on one side of the A4 size paper) not exceeding 1000 words may be sent to “Organizing Chairman, Kala Shrunga 2007, D.A. Pandu Memorial R.V Dental College, CA-37, 24th main, J.P. Nagar, I phase, Bangalore 560 078”, before 1st December 2007. The best 3 will be awarded cash prizes of Rs.3000, Rs.2000- and Rs.1000/- during Kala Shrunga 2007, the RGUHS Inter Collegiate Cultural and Literary meet. Please bring this matter to the notice of all the students of your college.

TOPIC FOR CREATIVE WRITING
Please complete the given story creatively:

– He/she was sitting, looking out of an open window on a lazy sunday afternoon, with a novel in hand. Suddenly something thrown from outside hit him/her on the face. He/she saw that it was a crumbled piece of paper. He/ she piked it up and opened the piece of paper and read it....

NOTE :

  1. Only one Entry per college.

Mr. S Shivaram has been appointed as the Chief Judge to Head the Jury for this MEGA Event. He is a well known Actor, Film Director & Producer.

Mr. S Shivaram started his career at a very early age of 10 as a theatre actor. He continued his contribution to theatre in the fields of acting, directing, costume designing, make-up, stage decoration, stage lighting and various other sectors of theatre and was also a radio artist. He was a principal at Theatre training centre run by “CHAYA KALAVIDARU” and later taught film acting, direction at Adarsh film Institute, Directors Association, Cine Arts and Technical Institute, and many other associations. In 1959, he entered the kannada filmdom as an assistant director. In 1964, he produced and acted in the kannada movie ‘Bereta Jeeva’. He is the winner of State and National awards for the production of kannada movies GEJJE POOJE and UPASANA. He co-directed yet another kannada movie ‘Hrudaya Sangama’ which won the State award. He has enacted in over 300 movies. Furthermore, he has acted in many Television serials. He has been showered with around 34 titles and awards from various organizations and associations such as ‘Hasya Shiromani’, ‘Kala Kanteerava’, ‘Hasya Natatilaka’, ‘Abhinava Tenali Ramakrishna’ etc. 1995 – Vinoda Vidya Sagara by Shatachitra Nata Shivaram Sanmana Samithi for his 100th film in 1984. 1990 – Karnataka drama academy award. 1992 – Karnataka State Rajyothsava Award for his contribution to cinema. 1997-98 Karnataka State film awards for acting in the cinema ‘Tayi Saheba’. 2006 – ‘Kempegowda Award’ by Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Corporation).
